LEGAT

LEGAT – Advanced AI-based information system for identifying and extracting entities from unstructured data collections is **developed by Nextgen Software within a Consortium coordinated by the University of Bucharest, with the Military Technical Academy “Ferdinand I” as project partner**. Built for civil security environments, LEGAT transforms large volumes of unstructured multilingual data into structured, searchable and decision-ready intelligence by extracting entities, relationships, coreferences and document topics from text documents, PDFs and HTML files.

The challenge

The challenge

Security-relevant information is often scattered across large collections of unstructured content, in multiple languages and formats.

Manual analysis is slow, difficult to scale and resource-intensive. LEGAT addresses this challenge by enabling faster, more consistent extraction of relevant information across datasets in Romanian, English, French, Russian and Hungarian.

The solution

Developed by the Consortium coordinated by the University of Bucharest, with the Military Technical Academy “Ferdinand I” and Nextgen Software as project partners, LEGAT combines modular AI capabilities with an investigation-ready interface.

Core capabilities include:

  • document extraction and normalization
  • named entity recognition
  • coreference resolution
  • relationship extraction
  • open-set topic detection
  • advanced search and graphical visualization of entity links
Operational value

Operational value

LEGAT is designed not only as a research project, but as a platform with clear operational relevance.

It helps organizations:

  • reduce analysis time from hours to minutes
  • process large collections in batch
  • identify hidden links and patterns faster
  • improve models over time through user-feedback-based retraining
  • support secure access through role-based access control
